Q&A with Harris County's Cole Mathis

Meet Cole Mathis, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound pitcher/infielder from Harris County who has signed to play at the College of Charleston. Mathis is a member of the South Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2021 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

 

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: I onlu use strawberry shampoo and don't wash practice pants.

 

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

 

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: Chicken.

 

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you? 

A: I order chicken tenders and fries at Mexican restaurants.

 

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: My favorite teacher is Ms. Jenny Bridges. My favorite subject is math.

 

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby? 

A: Playing video games.

 

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: Japan because they have pride in their baseball and it would be cool to experience the style of play Japan has.

 

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most.

A: Max Sherzer because he shows great leadership, confidence and passion for the game.

 

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life?

A: My dad because he taught me everything I know about baseball and God.

 

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: I have not decided yet but something with statistics and math.
