Q&A with Carrollton's Samuel Simpson

Meet Samuel Simpson, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound pitcher/third baseman from Carrollton High School who has signed to play at South Carolina. Simpson is a member of the North Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2021 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

 

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: One ritual I have is to listen to music before games. This helps me to focus.

 

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

 

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: Hibachi.

 

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you? 

A: I am an only child.

 

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: My favorite teacher is coach Carey Phillips and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) is definitely my favorite high school subject.

 

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby? 

A: I like to fish and hunt the most, but I also like to work on my truck.

 

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: I would probably travel to the Bahamas because I have heard the water is very clear and the place is very peaceful.

 

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most.

A: I would like to meet Trevor Bauer with the Cincinnati Reds because I like the way he pitches, and I want to try and work to be as good as him one day.

 

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life?

A: My grandfather has been the most influential person in my life because he is always at all of my games and if I need anything from him, he always helps to support me in any way he can. He also played in the minors with the Mets.

 

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: I plan on pursuing a business degree, and one day I would like to open a business of my own.
