Q&A with Gordon Lee's Jake Poindexter

Meet Jake Poindexter, a 6-foot-1,185-pound pitcher/infielder/outfielder from Gordon Lee High School who has signed to play at Georgia. Poindexter is a member of the North Georgia Big 10 cover for the 2021 Georgia Dugout Preview Magazine. Here are 10 questions with him.

 

Q: What in-game rituals or superstitions do you have?

A: I draw my grandmother's name in the dirt with a cross on the back on the mound.

 

Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?

A: Atlanta Braves.

 

Q: What is your favorite food to eat?

A: Chicken alfredo.

 

Q: Name one thing people may be surprised to learn about you? 

A: I am terrified of being late.

 

Q: Who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite high school subject?

A: Coach Shane Cauthorn and history.

 

Q: Outside of baseball, what is your next hobby? 

A: I play basketball.

 

Q: If you could travel anywhere outside the U.S., what would be your dream location and why?

A: I would go to Japan because I've always wanted to experience a baseball game there.

 

Q: Name the person you'd like to meet the most.

A: Trevor Bauer. I feel like he is a great baseball mind and I'd like to pick his brain about pitching.

 

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life?

A: My mom. She has always shown me what hard work is and she has been the best mother I could have ever asked for.

 

Q: After baseball, what career are you planning to pursue?

A: I want to work in an athletic department.
