Class AAAAAAA

Woodstock 4, North Gwinnett 3

Woodstock pitcher Brant Hurter struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh inning to help Woodstock upend North Gwinnett in a decisive third game to advance to the state championship series.

Hurter had reached his pitch-count limit but was allowed to finish the batter per Georgia High School Association rules.

The Wolverines made the most of just five hits and sent North Gwinnett starter Walker Cleveland to a tough loss. Cleveland struck out 10 in a complete game performance.

Caleb Bartolero finished 2-for-2 with two homers and four homers to lead Woodstock at the plate.

Corey Collins, Michael Borah and Josh Shuler finished with two hits apiece to lead North Gwinnett.

Woodstock will meet Etowah, who ousted Mill Creek in the other semifinal Game 3, in the state championship series.

 

Etowah 5, Mill Creek 4

Etowah took an early lead and held on to beat Mill Creek in Game 3 of the state semifinal series.

The Eagles, who finished as the fourth seed from Region 4, will meet fellow region rival Woodstock in the state championship series. Etowah played every playoff series on the road.

Weston Campbell went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead Etowah's offensive attack. Drew Waters smashed a solo homer in the game.

Mill Creek managed just five hits off Etowah pitchers Andrew Keene, Brady Jones and Ethan Underwood.

Class AAAAA

 

Loganville 9, Starr's Mill 3

Loganville scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to break a 3-all tie and return to the state championship series for the second straight season.

Starr's Mill took an early 3-0 advantage before the Red Devils rallied to tie with three runs in the fourth.

Loganville will meet Wayne County for the state championship.

 

Wayne County 8, Locust Grove 7

After Locust Grove rallied to tie the game at four and send the game into extra innings, Wayne County loaded the bases in the bottom of the 10th inning and scored a pair of runs to oust the defending state champions.

The Jackets will meet Loganville for the state championship.

Class AA

 

Elbert County 6, Bacon County 1

Elbert County used its deep pitching rotation to eliminate Bacon County and advance to the state championship series.

No further details about the game were available.

 

Jeff Davis sweeps Toombs County

Jeff Davis downed region rival Toombs County 9-6 and 13-3 to advance to state championship series where the Yellow Jackets will meet Elbert County.

It was the fourth time Jeff Davis had defeated Toombs County this season.

No further details were available about the games.

Gordon Lee 10, Charlton County 6

Gordon Lee used a five-run fifth inning to take the lead, then held off a late Charlton County rally to advance to the state championship series.

The Trojans will meet Schley County for the state title. One of the two teams have played in the state finals four of the past five seasons.
